We asked our favorite labels to curate a new serie of mixtapes. “What do you want us to hear?” is the only guideline.
This 9th episode is made by the californian label Not Not Fun.
Not Not Fun started in 2004 and is run by Britt (Robedoor) and Amanda Brown (Pocahaunted, L.A. Vampires). Since then, they’ve put out numerous records by Sun Araw, L.A. Vampires, Sex Worker, Psychic Reality, Dylan Ettinger or Ensemble Economique, just to name a few amongst others.
To quote FACT Magazine who listed Not Not Fun as one of the 10 best record labels of 2010 “The records on Not Not Fun in 2010 weren’t just records, they were self-contained worlds, true works of sonic fiction demanding – and deserving – absolute immersion and engagement.”
Here is the mixtape Not Not Fun did for us, and I have to say it was almost Christmas when I found this beautiful package in my mailbox, coming straight from Los Angeles.
